You are invited to an event to read and process together the report that was recently shared about racial equality in psychoanalysis (Holmes Commission Report)
Hosted by Julian Ernst and Dani Kasprzak
On Juneteenth of this summer, the Holmes Commission on Racial Equality in American Psychoanalysis released their final report. The Holmes Commission on Racial Equality (CO-REAP) was established within the American Psychoanalytic Association on recommendation of the Black Psychoanalysts Speak national organization. CO-REAP’s purpose is to identify and to find remedies for apparent and implicit manifestations of structural racism that may reside within American psychoanalysis. The Final Report is based on the study of American psychoanalytic institutes, training centers and societies within and across different organizational auspices.
As encouraged by CO-REAP, this Reading Group will provide relational space to study, process, and discuss the Report’s findings and recommendations. Further events and spaces will be developed and offered in the future to continue the work of understanding the implications of this Report as we commit to making psychoanalysis as diverse, equitable, inclusive, open, and vibrant as it can be.
