Trans:  How Much Do We Really Want to Know?

This conference will explore the evolving psychoanalytic discourse on gender and sexuality as “magnetic north has become unmoored” (Saketopoulou 2014). The presenters will introduce psychoanalytic ideas of how to work with aspects of the personality that arise in the therapist and patient when exploring facets of gender and sexuality. 

Dr. Grumbach is a Psychoanalyst in Los Angeles and a Training and Supervising Analyst at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, Los Angeles. Dr. Grumbach has presented nationally and internationally on how Psychoanalysis is evolving to expand ideas of Gender and Sexuality.  The conference will also include MPSI member Danielle Kasprzak, MSW, LGSW, who will share her clinical work as a part of the discussion of working psychoanalytically with trans patients.
