*** It is important that you read all of the information on the page linked here. In addition, we are repeating the information below as it is the most frequently asked question:
PPTP moved to an all-online format in 2020 in response to COVID restrictions. Last Spring (2021), out of an abundance of caution, we chose to continue online for 2021-22. Now it is Spring again (2022) and we have decided to commit to one more year of online learning for 2022-23.
Holding classes online has enabled learning to continue. It’s also made for easy scheduling with zero commute. But it has its costs. Just like in clinical practice—where the screen shrinks and interferes with the relational experience—the cohort experience of PPTP has also been confined to faces in boxes, dimming our spontaneous lively interaction.
Because PPTP is a very small training program it doesn’t have the budget to do justice to a hybrid teaching model, which requires more technology and on-site expertise. We would love to be able to offer this, but cannot afford it. So, choose we must, year to year: Hybrid or live.
We cannot predict what COVID will bring a year from now, but the PPTP committee is hoping and planning to move back to all live teaching for 2023-24. We will announce a location in the metro area by Summer of 2023. We are aware that shifting back to live classes will be harder for some than others. Again, we are not in a position to offer both, so we ask your forbearance as we hopefully, eventually, return to a live on-site program.
