“The [one] who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in a moment of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing… not healing, not curing.. that is the [one] who cares.”

— Henri Nouwen

Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society

A Division of the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute

The Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society (MPS) is an organization whose members share a common enthusiasm for furthering the understanding and application of psychoanalytic concepts to the practice of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and, more broadly, to issues of living in our contemporary society and culture.

MPS provides psychoanalytically informed educational services to its members, the professional community and the public at large.  Such educational services include psychoanalytically oriented training programs for clinicians, conferences, a low-fee psychotherapy clinic, clinical fellowships associated with the clinic, study groups, clinical seminars for community-based mental health organizations, and interdisciplinary study groups and fellowships.

MPS supports its members through opportunities for education, collegial affiliation and social events, as well as access to the PEPWEB and a web-based referral network for clinical members.

MPS is a division of the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (MPSI) and a constituent society of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
